Payment for nutrition education varies according to diagnosis and insurance policies.
- Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Tricare pays only if you have diabetes or chronic renal failure.
- AvMed, Aetna, Beech Street, and American Specialty pay for any nutrition counseling.
- Cigna, First Health, Humana and other private insurance may pay for verious conditions with pre-authorization.
Amount covered by insurance varies according to specific policy and it is usually subject to a year deductible.
